Location

The third largest island in the Mediterranean. Population is 700,000 of mainly Greek origin, with smaller Turkish and Armenian communities. The capital is Nicosia and local time is 1 hour ahead of Central European Time. Official languages are Greek and English. The island is a member of the European Union since 1 May 2004 and adopted the Euro as its currency on 1 January 2008.
